Madame Tussauds statues is a path towards the hall of fame. It took years for the Bollywood actors initially to get one waxwork done at Madame Tussauds. It is a wax museum mainly located in London and was discovered by Marie Tussaud, a wax sculptor. The wax museum displays the waxwork of the historic and famous characters and even the popular film characters. There are many more branches of Madame Tussauds across the world like in London, Delhi, Singapore and Hong Kong.
In the year 2000, Amitabh Bachchan, the Big-B of Bollywood was immortalized with a statue in London. This marked the beginning of list for the Bollywood and within a few years the list got longer. The wax statue is a sign of tribute to all the actors. The younger actors like Deepika Padukone and Varun Dhawan has also been given tribute with their waxwork, the younger actors did not wait that long to get their statues done in the coveted museum. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was the second Bollywood actor but first female actress in B-town to get her name included in the list of prestigious personalities in the year 2004. In the year 2007, Shah Rukh Khan debuted the list by getting his own wax statue carved. They were considered as the First Triumvirate in the B-Town to get their statues done at Madame Tussauds.
The first Madame Tussauds opened in New Delhi, India in the year of 2017. It consists of about 50 wax models including Mary Kom, Tom Cruise, Amitabh Bachchan, Narendra Modi and Sachin Tendulkar. It has become one of the major tourist attraction spot not only in London but also in New Delhi, India. Then the Bollywood actors joined the list too fast with statues of Salman Khan in the year 2008 and Hrithik Roshan in the year 2011 was tribute with his unveiling statue. The female actresses also made a place in this prestigious list with Kareena Kapoor’s statue in the year 2011 and Madhuri Dixit Nene’s statue in the year 2012. This marked the hat-trick of female Bollywood actors’ statues in Madame Tussauds. Later on, after 3 years in 2015, Katrina Kaif arrived with her statue in Madame Tussauds. In Big Ben, these actors’ debuted with their statues and then the installation frequency shot up since 2017. Later, in Singapore, Anil Kapoor got his wax statue done. To raise wax doppelgangers, the actors had to wait for decades. Anil Kapoor’s statue is made from one of his pose in the Kaun Banega Crorepati’s sequence in the movie Slum Dog Millionaire (released in the year 2008). Kajol, after a twenty-six long year journey in Bollywood got her statue done in May, 2018.
The Younger Generation made their debut at Tussauds very early with Varun Dhawan being the young Bollywood Actor to have this statue In Tussauds in London. He is the second B-Town actor to have his statue in London itself. Even Anushka Sharma is getting her figurine done in Singapore with Deepika Padukone in London and even Shahid Kappor’s unveiling statue will be introducted in January, 2019.
