Sin City Uncovered: Free Booze in Las Vegas

Betting on sports, table games and slots is only part of the Vegas experience. Sin City has so much else to offer: shows, exquisite dining, clubs, off-strip excursions, DJ’d pool parties and, of course, easy access to free booze.

You read that correctly: Free booze. This is not a joke. Straight liquor, mixed drinks, and beer can get expensive if you’re drinking exclusively at shows, restaurants and pool parties, but if you plan on hitting the casinos, it is not at all hard to get your alcoholic fix for free.

How does this work exactly? It’s not rocket science at all. Casinos want to keep you gambling, so they offer free table-, slot- and sportsbook-side alcoholic beverages. Most of the time there will be a waiter or waitress who comes around to the tables, slots, and sportsbooks to take orders. These drinks, whether they’re beer or liquor, are complementary! You don’t need to pay for them.

That being said, it is recommended that you tip the person bringing you these drinks. A couple of dollars here and there ensure they’ll continue to come back to get your order. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a high roller at the sportsbook or roulette table, or if you’re playing the penny slots. Waiters and waitresses will remember to keep your free drink fresh so long as you treat them right.

One roadblock you may run into is that casinos tend to have a no-shot rule. They’ll only bring you full-sized drinks. That’s not really a problem if you think about it. Would you rather a shot of whiskey or a larger glass full of whiskey?

If you’re dead set on finding cheap shots, be on the lookout for street promoters. They’ll often have deals that snag you free drinks and shots at certain bars and clubs if you show their promo cards at the door.

The downside here: Those deals have their limits. You’ll eventually wind up paying higher prices for drinks. You don’t need to worry about that in casinos and sportsbooks. You can drink the entire night without paying a single cent.

Heck, technically, you don’t even need to gamble. Because as long as you are tipping those who bring you drinks, they’ll make sure you’re taken care of. They don’t give a hoot if you’re betting the same $10 on one-cent pulls at the penny slots.

Keep all this in mind, and trust us, you’ll drink for much less than you realize in Vegas.
