LAST MINUTE MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND GETAWAYS FROM NEW JERSEY (NJ)

There are plenty of things to do for families and individuals during the Memorial Day weekend in New Jersey and several places to go there during the date without hearing any complain from kids or adults. The beginning of summer is full of fun on the area of New Jersey.

To enjoy activities that cannot be tampered by the rain, head to the Aviation Hall of Fame of New Jersey where lessons about the different types of aircraft can be taken. Or take a road trip and visit the LEGOLAND Discovery Center in Philadelphia or Yonkers for kids enjoyment (and for some grown-ups too); and if there are little scientists among the family, make a stop at the Liberty Science Center  where plenty of demos, exhibits and games are waiting for them. More enthusiastic to art and crafts, the Montclair Art Museum offers hands-on activities and gallery tour for the whole family.

During this time of this year, more than 600 professional and amateur cyclists participate in the Annual Tour of Somerville. Watch the races – separated by gender and age – from the curbs along with friends or family members and enjoy the fast action while having some snacks or listening to live music.

Furthermore, watch the sky gets colorful with the flying of several kites at the Wildwood’s International Kite Festival. The event is taking place at every time of the day during the whole weekend. Day and night activities including kites are taking place with all the families visiting the Convention Center and Beach of Wildwood.

As a tradition on this weekend in several cities around the United States, food takes a predominant place during this date and there is no exception in New Jersey. Around 45 of the best food trucks of the area arrive at Monmouth Park Racetrack to take part in the Jersey Shore Food Truck Festival. Cheese-stakes, fried bacon, empanadas and other delicious treats can be enjoyed during the duration of the celebration.

An interesting and always crowded activity is he Renaissance Faire where activities as jousting, Shakespeare readings, music, juggling, magicians, a full-scale chess match take place along with plenty of medieval and modern food.

And no Memorial Day weekend can be completed without the traditional parade and the Bradley Beach Memorial Day Parade along with a fair is one of the highlighted events in the area.
