FOTA- the firmware-over-the-air upgrade was released for Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1, the most recent mid-budget smartphone of Asus in India. The upgrade facilitates capabilities of 4G VoLTE for Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Sims, improves the overall quality of the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and enables the recently launched security patch from Google’s Android in May 2018. To check if the update is available in your device, you can go to Settings then System and select System Update and look for the FOTA upgrade.
ZenFone Max Pro M1’s 6GB RAM variant was announced in a launch event in this year’s April, but the phone is still pending its launch in the market. Asus’s twitter account, however, is indicating towards the announced phone’s launch from few days, although any date for the launch has not been revealed anywhere.
Specifications of Asus ZenFone Max
ZenFone Max of Asus sports dual-SIM (Nano slots) is launching with the Android Oreo 8.1 version and is anticipated to receive the Android upgrades of P and Q later when launched. The smartphone comes with a 5.99” display, with the screen being a full-HD+ with 1080×2160 pixels with IPS FullView display and the aspect ratio of 18:9. Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 SoC powers the phone and is bundled together with Qualcomm Adreno 509 GPU. The phone is coming in three RAM variants of 2 GB, 4 GB, and 6 GB.
Talking about the essential feature of today, the camera, ZenFone Max Pro M1 sports a setup of dual camera which is vertically stacked, a 13-mp version with the primary sensor being Omnivision and 5-mp lens with a secondary depth sensor. The front camera is an 8-mp camera for selfies with the wide-angle lens of 85.5-degree, f/2.0 apertures, and a 5P lens. The mid-range budget phone comes in two variants of 32GB and 64GB.
The phone’s connectivity alternatives include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n with Wi-Fi Direct, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2 (with aptX), Micro-USB, GPS/ A-GPS, BDS, headphone jack of 3.5mm and GLONASS. An accelerometer, electronic compass, fingerprint sensor, ambient light sensor, Face Unlock sensor, proximity sensor, and gyroscope are the sensors onboard the new Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. The biometrics on the phone includes a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, which has received an upgrade with the new FOTA update and the feature of facial recognition.
