This is the Nation’s largest Memorial Day Parade event and in 2018 it takes place on Monday, May 28 at 1400 all along Constitution Avenue in Washington D.C.
One of the most amazing things about the National Memorial Day is that it tells the story of American honor and sacrifice from across all generations. The National Memorial Day Parade is celebrating its fourteenth year in 2018 and it is the major event during the Memorial Day in our Country, it draws hundreds of thousands of visitors from across the Country and across the World to the National Mall paying tribute to the men and women of the military who have served, are serving and more importantly it honors those who have given their lives in the defense our nation’s freedom.
The National Memorial Day Parade serves as an interactive timeline for the American military history honoring and commemorating those who have served and sacrificed going back as far as the American Revolution all the way to present day. The traditions for Memorial Day Parades dates all the way back to just after the Civil War and it was aimed at creating a family-friendly event that would call the attention towards the true meaning of Memorial Day, which is honoring our fallen heroes.
For this year honoring, Anthony Sadler, Alek Skarlatos, and Spencer Stones, the heroes of the 15:17 to Paris are joining as Grand Marshals. As you may be aware of this American soldiers frustrated a terrorist attack on a train going from Amsterdam to Paris. France awarded them with the Nation’s highest honor, the Legion of Honour, and more recently they even when on to play themselves in a movie by Clint Eastwood.
During the fourteenth celebration of the National Memorial Day Parade, important figures like actor Joe Mantegna, celebrity chef Robert Irvine, Miss America 2018 Cara Mund, country music icon Trace Adkins, Jerrod Niemann and Cassidy Daniels will be performing and supporting our veterans. During the Parade veterans from every American arm conflict from World War II to Iraq will be present and represented. Also, honorary Grand Marshals like Gary Sinise and the Tuskegee Airmen will also be present.
