BENGALURU: The political tension in the constituency of Rajarajeshwari Nagar is rising. With N Munirathna burning bridges with a total of nine BBMP corporators, the political heat in the constituency can be easily felt. The Congress leader is infuriated over the ill treatment he received from his party. The matter started over the ticket distribution in the state.
Of nine BBMP leaders, five belong to Munirathna’s party. The situation is against Munirathna. There are many obstacles standing before him. He has series of corruption charges pressed against him, he has been accused of exploiting women corporates and has allegedly abused his power. It is a difficult battle for him.
BJP’s spokesperson Malavika Avinash pointed that it is not just the corporators who abhor the Congress leader. Owing to his exemplary record even the voters are not in his support. Although BJP itself lost GH Ramachandra to the JD(S) and he has supposedly taken away half of the cadre and this might severely affect BJP in the election.
But BJP is still very positive about the election. Muniraja Gowda of BJP is pretty confident about registering a victory in the second largest constituency of the state. The constituency consists of 4.5 lakh voters. BJP bagged 1.3 lakh votes in the Lok Sabha election of 2014 from the rural Bengaluru, which also included Rajarajeshwari Nagar. This fact is boosting the confidence of BJP.
Another reason why BJP is so hopefull is the solid Vokkliga vote base. 1.2 lakh voters out of 4.5 lakh voters are vokkaliga. Even the political observers are pretty sure that BJP will be successful in swaying the thirty thousand strong Telugu votes towards itself.
Ramachandra who is toiling hard to woo the Vokkaliga voters said that keeping the current emotions of people towards the incumbent MLA in mind, they have a fair chance of securing a victory in the region.
The political observers and analyst have said that it is not at all unexpected to see Vokkaliga turning their back towards the current MLA Muniratha. To get out of this situation Muniratha will have to garner support from all the other communities in the constituency which is certainly not going to be a cakewalk. And it is tough path ahead for Munirathna.
The situation is against Munirathna but he is confident that he will get out of this ugly situation victoriously and the people of Rajrajeshwarinagar will recognise his work and will vote for him.
